Defined vs Photon (2026): Fees, Chains, Order Types and Mobile
Defined and Photon compared for 2026: the 1% Photon fee against Defined's flat spot fee, Solana versus multi-chain coverage, order types, perps, predictions and apps.
4 min read
Photon was one of the first web terminals to make Solana memecoin trading feel instant, and it is still the default for a lot of traders who want a fast buy button, a Memescope feed of new launches and not much else. Defined is a broader terminal: spot trading on Solana and EVM chains, Hyperliquid perps, Polymarket prediction markets and sports, with native mobile apps and a Telegram bot.
This comparison was checked in October 2026. Photon publishes no fee docs we could find, so its figures come from the independent sources listed under Sources; check its site before you trade.

Fees
Photon charges 1% of every buy and every sell, reduced to 0.9% through a referral, with Solana network fees on top. On a round trip that is roughly 2% of the position before price movement.
Defined charges 0.50% per spot trade with a $0.25 minimum, on Solana and on EVM chains alike. The round trip is 0.50% in and 0.50% out. For an active trader, the fee gap is the single biggest line item between the two.
Chains and markets
Photon is a Solana terminal first. Builder directories also list it on Ethereum, Base and BNB Chain, but the product, the feeds and the community are built around Solana launches.
Defined trades spot on Solana, Ethereum, Base, BNB Chain and Robinhood, including cross-chain swaps, and shows market data for 70+ blockchains and 50M+ tokens. The same account and USDC balance also trade Hyperliquid perpetuals and Polymarket prediction markets, and follow live sports with their markets. We found none of those on Photon.
Order types
Both support market and limit orders. Defined adds stop orders and recurring orders that split a total into scheduled buys or sells. Limit and stop triggers can be set as an exact price or as a percentage from the current price, and open orders appear as lines on the chart that you can drag to a new level. See how to set limit orders on a DEX.
Discovery
Photon's Memescope is a strong new-launch feed for Solana. Defined's discovery covers trending across every chain, filters, launchpad tracking across the major launchpads with graduation stats, and token risk verdicts on each token. Neither sells trending placements.
Mobile and Telegram
Photon is a web terminal, and we found no iOS or Android app. Defined has iOS and Android apps with charts, trading, portfolio and push alerts, plus the @defined_bot Telegram bot for token lookups, wallet tracking and trading from chat.
Verdict
Choose Photon if you only trade Solana launches, you value its particular speed and feed, and the 1% fee is not a concern.
Choose Defined if you want a lower flat spot fee, EVM chains alongside Solana, stop and recurring orders, perps and prediction markets from the same balance, and apps on your phone.
